Bangkok has endless options for families with kids—from educational, can’t-look-away attractions to pure fun-and-adventure days. Planning a family-friendly route in the city is all about balancing variety, downtime, and easy transportation.
In this post, we pulled together family itineraries for 2, 3, and 4 days, with a focus on mixing fun, culture, nature, and shopping.

Before we jump in—here are 5 tips for planning a family itinerary in Bangkok

  1. Transportation: Lean on the BTS (Skytrain), MRT (subway), or taxis to dodge the worst traffic jams.
  2. Rest: Pair morning activities with midday downtime—especially on those steamy hot days.
  3. Food: Kid-friendly restaurants are everywhere. Still, it’s smart to pack snacks and water.
  4. Places to play: Mix in parks, malls with kids’ zones, or open spaces where they can run wild for a bit.
  5. Rainy-day plan: Have a backup plan ready in case it rains—or it’s just too hot to be outside.

We put together a neat list of great, popular family-friendly places to stay—in the most convenient areas

A 2-day itinerary for families in Bangkok

Start at the seriously awesome SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World aquarium, keep things chill at Lumphini Park and the colorful Asiatique night market, and wrap up day two with the Grand Palace and Bangkok’s jaw-dropping temples. This itinerary blends wow-factor experiences, nature, culture, and attractions the whole crew can enjoy.

Please note: this itinerary actually offers 4 days of ideas, so you can pick and mix whatever fits your schedule.

Day 1: Fun, learning, and nature

☀️ Morning: SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World—an enormous, impressive aquarium inside Siam Paragon, with underwater exhibits featuring sharks, penguins, and rare species.
Hours: 10:00–21:00
How to get there: BTS to Siam Station.

🍜 Lunch: Eat at Siam Paragon
The food court has plenty of kid-approved options, including pizza, pasta, and ice cream (because priorities).

🌳 Afternoon: Lumphini Park (Lumphini Park)—the perfect place to decompress and burn off some energy, with pedal boats on the lake and wide open spaces for play.

🌇 Evening: Asiatique the Riverfront—an easy, family-friendly night market area with stalls, restaurants, and a giant Ferris wheel with a great view.
How to get there: Take the boat to the Asiatique pier.

Day 2: A mix of history and modern Bangkok

☀️ Morning: Visit the Grand Palace and the main temples: Wat Pho (home of the Reclining Buddha) and Wat Arun (famous for its tall, beautifully decorated tower).
A short walk along the riverbanks.

🥑 Lunch: Lunch at a riverside restaurant—for example, Arun Residence.

🏙️ Afternoon: Head up to the Mahanakhon Skywalk for a stunning panoramic view over Bangkok.
And yeah—make time for a coffee break at a fancy café nearby.

⛵ Evening: A fun Chao Phraya River cruise with dinner.

Optional Day 3 add-on: An amusement park day + an easygoing finish

🎡 Morning through afternoon:
Pick between two popular parks—Siam Amazing Park or Dream World—depending on what your family’s into:

About Siam Amazing Park:
This is Thailand’s largest park, with a variety of rides, a massive wave pool (a Guinness record!), a water zone with slides, and an area geared toward younger kids. It’s great for families who want a mix of wet and dry attractions, and it’s super friendly for all ages.
Best for: families looking for a full day of fun—especially if the kids love water rides and thrill rides.
Location: about a 30-minute drive from Bangkok.
Tip: Bring swimsuits and proper water gear.

About Dream World:
A fantasy-themed amusement park with rides for the whole family, live shows, and a “Snow World” where you can experience artificial snow. The vibe is downright magical—fun for kids and adults.
Best for: families with younger kids who love stories, shows, and less extreme rides.
Location: about a 30-minute drive north of Bangkok.
Tip: You can pair the visit with craft workshops held in the park.

How do you choose between the parks?

If the kids love water and want splashy attractions: Siam Amazing Park is the better pick.
If you want a gentler, more magical day (and something more tuned for younger kids): Dream World is the right choice.
Factor in your kids’ ages and interests, plus any unique extras you want to add (like the snow at Dream World).

✨ Evening: After a big action-packed day, end with a calm evening at Benjakitti Park or Lumphini Park—think a simple picnic or an easy stroll around the lakes.
Another option: a relaxing family massage.

Optional Day 4 add-on: Shopping, a museum, and a local market that works for families

😎 Morning: Shopping in the Siam malls (Siam Paragon / MBK)
Start your day in the heart of Bangkok’s shopping zone:
Siam Paragon: an upscale mall with international brand stores and SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World.
MBK Center: a more family-popular mall for bargain shopping—think toys, gifts, and gadgets.
Tip: Pick the mall that matches your family’s vibe—fancy or more budget-friendly—and plan to stay around 2–3 hours.

🍕 Lunch: Stop for lunch at the food court in Siam Center or MBK, with a huge range of Thai and international options.

🎈 Afternoon: Children’s Discovery Museum
A place where kids can explore, learn, and play with interactive activities, a water area, and creative stations.
Tip: If you’re short on time, add a quick loop through nearby Chatuchak Park for some outdoor time.

🍭 Evening: Visit Wang Lang Market
A local market that works well for families—authentic vibes and delicious street food. Kids can try Thai sweets and soak up the colorful atmosphere without the intense crowding you get at some other touristy markets.
Location: near the Chao Phraya River, with easy access by ferry or public transit.
Tip: Try to arrive in the early afternoon so you can enjoy it before it gets packed.

Notes for the itinerary:
If you want one more experience, you can add Talad Rot Fai (the train market) in the evening—it has a unique vibe and interesting stalls that kids tend to enjoy, too.
Keep the day light and easy, with enough breaks to recharge—especially if you’re traveling with little ones.
