Wat Phu Khao Noi (The “Small Mountain” Temple)
Wat Phu Khao Noi, considered the oldest temple in Koh Phangan, gives you a little window into the island’s rich history and religious heritage.
Peaceful setting: Set on a gentle hillside, the temple grounds feel calm and grounded—like the island hits “mute” for a minute.

Kuan Yin Temple – the Chinese Temple
Kuan Yin Temple is a complex made up of seven colorful pagodas, a large golden Buddha statue, a gorgeous dragon drum, and wind chimes. It sits on the north coast of Koh Phangan near a coconut plantation and serves up some seriously stunning views. You can wander around, soak in the sights and sounds, and even join in local customs—like rubbing the Buddha’s belly or lighting incense. There’s a small entrance fee to access the temple grounds. A local legend tells of a Thai woman, Mrs. Malawan, who was instructed in a dream by the goddess Kuan Yin to build a lighthouse on the road to Chaloklum.
Location: The temple sits on a hill overlooking Chaloklum Bay, with beautiful jungle-and-sea views.
